PAYMENT
I understand that independent businesses need complete clarity around costs, so all fees and payment dates will be agreed before we begin.
Your booking is confirmed once the first payment has been received. Invoices are payable within seven days unless we have agreed something different in writing.
I’m always happy to create a bespoke plan, please do feel free to get in contact if this is something you’d like to discuss.

THE MODERN SHOPKEEPER SPARK SESSION
The £300 fee is payable in full when you book your session.
INDEPENDENT SHOP REVIEW
A 50% payment of £300 is required to confirm your booking.
The remaining £300 is payable before the final presentation of my ideas and recommendations.
IDEAS INTO ACTION
The £1,500 fee is divided into three payments:
£500 to confirm your booking
£500 before the third session
£500 before the final session
This spreads the cost across the programme, with payments made as the work progresses.
TALKS & WORKSHOPS FOR BIDS AND TRADERS ASSOCIATIONS
A 50% payment is required to secure the date, with the remaining balance due 14 days before the talk or workshop.
If a booking is made within 14 days of the event, the full fee will be payable when booking.
BESPOKE PROGRAMMES
For longer programmes or a series of sessions, I will create a staged payment plan linked to the agreed schedule.
If your organisation has specific procurement or payment requirements, please let me know before booking so we can agree what is workable.
TRAVEL AND ADDITIONAL COSTS
I’m based in South West London and I’m very happy to travel to work with shopkeepers, BIDs and traders’ associations in other areas.
All expected mileage, fares, travel time, accommodation and other additional costs will be clearly set out and agreed before your booking is confirmed.
Known costs will be included in your payment schedule, with any agreed adjustments included on the final invoice. There will be no unexpected travel charges added afterwards.
TRAVELLING BY CAR
The first 40 miles of the total return journey from SW14 are included in my fee.
Any mileage beyond this will be charged at 45p per mile. Parking, tolls, congestion charges and any other necessary travel costs will be added at cost.
TRAVELLING BY TRAIN
Train travel is often the most practical option for me. Where I choose to travel by train, the cost of a standard-class return ticket and any necessary local transport will be added to your quote.
The expected cost will be confirmed with you before the booking is made and payment will be required before I travel.
TRAVEL TIME
Up to one hour of travel each way is included in my service fee.
If the journey takes longer than one hour each way, the additional travel time will be charged at £25 per hour. This will be based on the expected journey time when your booking is confirmed, rather than unexpected delays on the day.
OVERNIGHT STAYS
If a journey is expected to take more than two hours each way, an overnight stay will normally be required.
The estimated hotel cost will be included in your quote and a 50% deposit will be payable before I make the booking. The actual cost, supported by the hotel receipt, will then be included in the final balance.
Where possible, I will choose comfortable, reasonably priced accommodation close to the venue.
CANCELLATION POLICY
I understand that plans sometimes change. If you need to cancel or move a booking, please let me know as soon as possible. I will always try to find a fair and practical solution.
SPARK SESSIONS, SHOP REVIEWS AND INDIVIDUAL SUPPORT SESSIONS
You can move your booking once, at no additional cost, by giving at least seven days’ notice. Your new date will be subject to availability.
If you cancel more than seven days before the session, I will refund any payment made, less the cost of preparation already completed and any non-refundable expenses.
If you cancel or ask to move the booking with fewer than seven days’ notice, the booking payment may be retained to cover preparation and the time reserved for you.
If you do not attend a session without giving notice, the full session fee will remain payable.
IDEAS INTO ACTION
If you decide to end an IDEAS INTO ACTION PACKAGE after work has begun, please give at least 14 days’ written notice.
You will be charged for all sessions delivered, preparation completed and any sessions due to take place within the 14-day notice period. Any remaining balance for work that has not been completed will not be payable.
TALKS AND WORKSHOPS
You can request to move the date of a talk or workshop once, at no additional cost, by giving at least 28 days’ notice. The new date will be subject to availability.
If you cancel:
More than 28 days before the event, you will be charged for preparation already completed and any non-refundable costs.
Between 14 and 28 days before the event, up to 50% of the agreed fee may be payable.
Fewer than 14 days before the event, the full fee may be payable.
Any cancellation charge will reflect the preparation completed, costs incurred and the likelihood of filling the reserved date with another booking.
TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION
Train tickets, accommodation and other travel arrangements are sometimes non-refundable. Once booked, any costs that cannot be recovered will remain payable if you cancel or change the date.
I will always discuss travel arrangements with you before making a booking.
IF I NEED TO CANCEL
In the unlikely event that I need to cancel, I will offer you a new date or refund any fees paid for work that has not been delivered.
EXCEPTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCES
I appreciate that genuine emergencies happen. Where exceptional circumstances prevent a booking from going ahead, I will consider the situation individually and do my best to reach a fair solution.
